Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Bryan Vera will go up against each other for the second time as Top Rank Promotions announced their rematch scheduled on March 1st at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
Top Rank boss Bob Arum officially announced the rematch along with an exciting fight card that will also feature Vasyl Lomachenko and reigning WBO featherweight king Orlando Salido.
The world-renowned promoter said that Chavez agreed to face Vera to prove that his victory in their first showdown last September in California was no fluke despite being considered as one the fights that was marred by travesty in judging.
"Chavez Jr. will return to the ring to fight Vera, coming off that controversial decision last September in California. Chavez Jr. agreed to do this rematch because of the nature of their first fight. We will also have on this card the great Olympian Vasyl Lomachenko, who will challenge defending WBO featherweight champion Orlando Salido," Arum announced via BoxingScene.

The 27-year-old Mexican, who holds an impressive 47-1 record with 32 knockout wins, vowed that fight fans will see a different Chavez on March 1st in front a crowd that is expected to be dominated by Vera fans since the American slugger is from Texas.
The former WBC middleweight champion admitted that his one-year layoff prior to their first showdown made it difficult for him to find his rhythm. The son of Mexican boxing legend, Julio Sr, was inactive for more than a year after losing to Sergio Martinez in September 2012 in a fight in which he tested positive for marijuana.
Chavez is expecting another tough fight, but he vowed that he will give it all to score a convincing win this time.
"It will be another tough fight with Vera, but I expect that I will be much better this time around," The long-layoff hurt me in the first fight, so I expect to be at my best this second time. I know I can do much better than the first time and I owe the fans a much better performance and that is what they will get when we meet on March 1 in San Antonio."
Vera, on the other hand, promised another action-packed showdown in his bid to avenge his disappointing defeat to the Mexican in their previous fight, insisting that he will be more than ready to go toe-to-toe with his heavily-favored opponent.
