Amy Robach, news anchor and a breast cancer patient had her hair film in while cutting.
Teary eyed, Amy got her hair cut in Rossano Ferretti salon spa in New York, who tried to make everything easy for her.
"I was there for five hours, and they were so great to make sure I felt OK. They gave me a private room because it is emotional when you cut your hair."
She appeared in her morning show with her new haircut last Jan.15 and claimed that it was "to take control" of her life, with new start and new chapter.
The American journalist and correspondent of ABC news first discover the cancer last October. The cancer was discover through a mammogram conducted on TV live. The test was a GMA's October Pink Initiative.
Amy had no trace or background of breast cancer in her family so it never came to her sense that she can have such health problem.
"I was a little reluctant at first. I'm 40, I'm the age and I've been putting it off," she said.
Series of test followed the mammogram that led to the discovery of the cancer of the journalist.
She had already completed two out of eight sessions of her chemotherapy.
After the series of chemotherapy, Amy started to noticed hair falls in every part of her house including shower, pillows brushes, everywhere.
Her decision to cut her hair on camera was to tell everyone, especially women who are also going through or will go through with breast cancer, should take her stand and know two things.
"You're not alone and that you too can be brave."
In November, her doctors had a surgery with Amy which said to be the one that saved her life.
"That mammogram just saved your life," the doctor said after the surgery.
