LeBron James continues to dodge questions about his plans after this season, but the superstar forward pondered his uncertain future with the Miami Heat through his birthday letter to teammate Dwyane Wade.
James posted a photo collage containing his birthday message to Wade, who turned 32 on Friday.
In the photo, the 29-year-old superstar looked back at his memories with Wade, highlighting the friendship that they built since the rookie camp of the 2003 NBA Draft.
"The friendship we've created our rookie year at pre draft camp was pure and that's why we stuck together from that point on! Obviously didn't know we would eventually become teammates and do the things we've done so far," James noted.
It was followed by a cryptic statement wherein James said that he and Wade will remain brothers "no matter what happens in the future" as if hinting the possibility of him leaving the Heat once his contract is up.
"I came to Miami for 2 reasons. To play with U and to win championships and I can't thank u enough for the sacrifice you've made since I arrived homie! No matter what happens in the future we stuck together like brothers for life," James said, referring to Wade deferring the leadership role to him when he arrived in Miami.
James could opt out of his deal after the season along with Chris Bosh. The reigning Most Valuable Player has dodged questions about free agency since the season started, but it is widely believed that James will test free agency next summer especially if the Heat fails to win a title for the third-straight season.
Previous rumors suggested that James could consider returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers -- the team that he left via his infamous one-hour "The Decision" TV special.
In one of their previous games in Cleveland, James said that it would be fun to play in front of Cleveland fans again in the future.
On the other hand, the Cavaliers are also salivating about the possibility of having a reunion with James since they have enough cap space next summer to sign him outright.
Aside from the Cavaliers, the Chicago Bulls are also expected to be in the mix if James decides to leave Miami.
Previous rumors suggested that the Bulls will target either James or Carmelo Anthony next summer to form a superstar duo with a healthy Derrick Rose.
