Dwight Howard Left Out Of NBA All-Star Starting Lineup For The First Time Since 2007, Bryant Replaced Due To Injury

Fans of Dwight Howard were apparently not enough to get the Lakers player into the starting lineup of this year's NBA All-Star season.

Dwight Howard will reportedly be on the reserve bench this time for the 2014 NBA All-Star team, as the final tally of the votes were announced earlier this week.

This came as a complete surprise for everyone considering Dwight Howard has been voted in as a starter since 2007. This will be the first snub for the former Orlando player.

The names of the official lineup were revealed by NBA All-Star execs through their official Twitter account, naming Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Love and Bake Griffin as the starting players from the West.

From the East, Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwayne Wade, Kyrie Irving and Paul George were voted by fans as the favorites for the starting lineup.

Kevin Love superceded Dwight Howard by 26,000 votes after the third return of the ballots and edged him out in the end by 8,000 points.

His disastrous exit fro Orlando was said to be one of the main reasons for the player's drop in the popularity rankings. Another reason was his hyped but miserable season with the Lakers and the fact that NBA made a few changes in their rules for the balloting procedure that allowed only two forwards to be included in the lineup.

Though Dwight Howard may not be part of the starting lineup, the Lakers star is a favorite for reserve.

Though he was voted, Kobe Bryant will reportedly not be playing in the game due to an injury to his Achilles' tendon and knee. The basketball superstar was voted into the lineup despite having only played six games for the Lakers so far.
