Raiders cheerleaders earn much less than mascots yearly. This is perhaps the most shocking news that rocked NFL history, and it's not surprising that the Oakland Raiders squad of cheerers have filed a lawsuit against their own team for the unjust wages as well as for the pain and suffering they have to put up with every season.
According to WebProNews, current and former Oakland Raiders cheerleaders recently raised their concern on their unpaid wages despite the hard work and effort they put in every public appearance.
The cheerleaders nicknamed Raidettes feel that they are not being treated fairly and that they deserve much more than what they are earning as of late.
The lawsuit, which was filed Wednesday at the Alameda County Superior Court, revealed that the Raidettes are not properly compensated for the lengthy hours they consume in rehearsing.
Additionally, they also claim that the organization unfortunately withholds their money until the end of the season; thus, they need to pay their own business expenses.
"We have to pay the costs for traveling to all kinds of events, including photo shoots," one of the Raiders cheerleaders told the media. "I love the Raiders and I love being a Raiderette, but someone has to stand up for all of the women of the NFL who work so hard for the fans and the teams."
If all of the accusations were proven true, this means that the Raiderettes are being paid less than what NFL mascots earn on a yearly basis.
Sharon Vinick, the attorney working on the case said, "I have never seen an employment contract with so many illegal provisions."
Meanwhile, according to DetroitNews, the Raiders declined to comment on the issue as of late.
