Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Amir Khan Update: Robert Guerrero Says Glass-Jawed Khan Will Be Dominated

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has yet to name his opponent for his next fight on May 3rd, but previous reports indicated that the undefeated American will announce a showdown with Amir Khan soon.

Reacting to the rumored Mayweather vs. Khan fight, Robert Guerrero, who once lost to the reigning pound-for-pound king, believes that Khan will be an easy opponent to Floyd Jr.

In an interview with Ryan Burton of BoxingScene, Guerrero said that Khan can withstand Mayweather's onslaught in the first few rounds, but once the American champion gets into his rhythm, Khan will be dominated by the 36-year-old champion.

Guerrero added that a knockout win is highly likely, saying that Mayweather is too quick and too smart, and Khan's glass jaw is tailor-made for the reigning WBC and WBA light middleweight champion.

"Of course Floyd is going to win that fight," said Guerrero when asked about the rumored Mayweather-Khan showdown. "Everybody knows Amir Khan has a glass jaw, but he is quick. He might be game for a couple rounds but as soon as Floyd adapts to him, makes his adjustments, he (Floyd) is super quick and smart in the ring as well. He will dominate him, if not knock him out."

Mayweather vs. Khan Showdown Will Be A Joke

Meanwhile, Boxing analyst Jake Emen of Yahoo Sports is not thrilled with the looming showdown between Mayweather and Khan in May.

In his commentary, Emen said that he sees no reason why Khan is on top of the list of Mayweather's possible opponent, citing the unimpressive record of the Briton in his last four fights.

The 27-year-old former champion absorbed his first defeat in December 2011 against Lamont Peterson, which was followed by a devastating fourth-round knockout loss to Danny Garcia in their WBC and WBA light welterweight title showdown in July 2012.

Khan has won two fights since those two-consecutive defeats, but Emen pointed out that the Bolton native was not able to prove anything with his performance, particularly in his win against Julio Diaz in April last year.

Diaz knocked Khan down in the fourth round of the match before the British boxing icon escaped with a close unanimous decision victory.

"Until and unless Khan actually proves himself to be a top Welterweight, he has no business being in the ring with Floyd Mayweather. A Mayweather vs. Khan fight would be a waste -- a waste of what is likely one of Mayweather's final fights, and a waste of our time," Emen lamented.
