A BBC4-produced documentary uncovered the truth behind Moammar Khadafy's secret "harem," revealing that the former Libyan dictator kept rooms for sex slaves as young as 14 years old.
According to the TV special, Khadafy took in young girls as sex slaves and had them checked for sexually transmitted diseases inside a secret gynecological suite before raping them.
The uncovering of the sterile examination room used for the procedure was only one among the many disturbing revelations about Khadafy in BBC4's controversial documentary.
The room, which Khadafy allegedly used for checking for STDs and forced abortions, was equipped with two beds fitted with stirrups which sat opposite a table housing several surgical instruments.
The examination suite was connected to a "sex lair" that featured 1970s decor, a filthy Jacuzzi tub, an orange lamp and a double bed.
Young girls were allegedly handpicked by the late dictator himself and chosen children were removed from their lives and made to live in his harem.
According to the documentary, Khadafy routinely conducted lectures at schools which were designed to conceal his real intention of finding new children to add to his harem.
While delivering his speech, the former leader would choose among the students and on his way out, give the desired girls' heads a tap, said the BBC4 special.
The girls were rounded up by Khadafy's men and shipped off to one of his palaces.
"Some were only 14," said one Tripoli teacher. "They would simply take the girl they wanted. They had no conscience, no morals, not an iota of mercy even though she was a mere child."
One of Khadafy's allies attested that sometimes young boys were also sent to the Libyan leader's harem.
"He was terribly sexually deviant," said Khadafy's former chief of protocol, Nuri Al Mismari. "He had his own boys. They used to be called the 'services group.' All of them were boys and bodyguards ... a harem for his pleasure."
