Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and LG G Flex are currently the best "phablets" tech bigwig South Korea has to offer and both have shown proven themselves to live up to the crazy hype. But while Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has proven itself to be the arguable kung of the phablet arena, LG has recently released a viable competitor in the form of the unique-looking LG G Flex. Two big phones that are jam-packed with the latest features and gear would make anyone think twice before purchasing one to change up your old model.
Now here you are in the middle of a dilemma, wondering which smartphone to invest your hard-earned money in: the ever popular Samsung Galaxy Note 3 or the unique but equally powerful LG G Flex? Let's put these two bad boys against each other and see which one has the tools and performance to outclass the other.
When it comes to appearances, there's nothing really remarkably new about the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and LG G Flex's designs. LG G Flex looks almost like the G2's identical twin while Samsung Galaxy Note 3's design takes it cue from earlier model Galaxy S4. However, LG G Flex offers a new twist to the usual smartphone look with its curved frame, giving it a more comfortable and ergonomic feel in the hand. Adding he fact that its rear casing has an innovative self-healing property, LG G Flex curved design appears to be more intruiging than the Samsung Galaxy Note 3's faux "pleather" casing. That's not to say Samsung Galaxy Note 3 isn't easy to handle but if we're talking about unique and uncanny looks, LG G Flex wins this round.
The state-of-the-art flex in the LG G Flex's design is mostly thanks to its unique 6-inch 720p P-OLED panel. As compared to Samsung Galaxy Note 3’s 5.7-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, the G Flex’s panel is more durable and can withstand pressure that would otherwise prove too much for the Note 3’s display. Therefore, instead of cracking or shattering, the G Flex’s display maintains its strength and integrity.
It's true that the LG G Flex's unique design also makes for an interesting display but when it comes to other traits that make a screen attractive, Samsung Galaxy Note packs a huge punch. Samsung's flagship smartphone is brighter, more highly detailed, produces better and more vibrant colors and even has wider viewing angles. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has everything you need for a wonderful viewing experience, not to mention the added perk of being able to track our finger or S Pen as we hover either of them over the panel.
In terms of cameras, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and LG G Flex are just about tied in this category, as they both boast impressive 13-megapixel cameras. Both flagship smartphones produce the same quality of photos that are rich in detail, properly exposed and boast lively looking colors. The only difference is pictures taken with the LG G Flex tend to come out looking warmer as compared to Samsung Galaxy Note 3's cooler color scheme. Both devices' LED flashes produce pretty much the same effect and amount of lighting to the subjects.
In the interface and functionality category, there's no denying that Samsung Galaxy Note 3 reigns supreme. Though the two are similar in terms of Android experience, the Note 3's enhanced TouchWiz Nature UX puts it on a different level compared to the G Flex. That's not to say the customized Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean experience of the LG G Flex is not good too but it doesn't have Samsung Galaxy Note 3's nifty note-taking functions. Most importantly, there are also some notable features, like the various Air Gestures and View functions, that aren’t replicated by the G Flex’s experience.
Both flagship devices have many lovable characteristics and pack a big punch in terms of performance and specs. Ultimately, the choice between two powerful phablets comes right down to personal preference and you can't go wrong choosing between the unique LG G Flex and the versatile Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
