Desperate times call for desperate measures as the New York Knicks are now reportedly willing to trade anyone in their roster aside from Carmelo Anthony in a trade before the deadline.
The Knicks are aware that their current slump is slowly convincing Anthony to bolt out of the team when he hits free agency this summer, but their executives are not ready to waive the white flag yet.
Sources said that the Knicks will desperately look to trade for a high-caliber player before the Feb. 20 deadline, knowing that it could be the only way to have at least of chance of striking a long-term deal with Anthony in the offseason.
"New York very well could make everyone expect Carmelo Anthony available in a trade this upcoming week," Sports Illustrated's FanSided noted. "Making everyone available would make sense, as the team really only cares about bringing back Carmelo Anthony."
Sources noted young prospects Iman Shumpert and Tim Hardaway Jr. have the highest value among the assets of the Knicks, while veteran center Tyson Chandler could also draw interests from title-contending teams this season.
Hardaway has been drawing the attention of several teams with his recent strong performances. The 21-year-old guard averaged 13.1 points on 45 percent shooting from the field in their last 10 games.
Shumpert, on the other hand, has been struggling all-season long, averaging just 7.0 points and 4.6 rebounds a game, but most league executives believe that a change of scenery will work wonders for the third-year guard.
Rajon Rondo, Kyle Lowry Still Among Knicks' Top Targets
Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo is still reportedly on top of the Knicks' wishlist. The Celtics have shown no desire to trade away their star point guard before the deadline, but the Knicks are still keeping their fingers crossed.
Lowry, on the other hand, has been drawing the interests of several teams over the past few weeks. The Raptors are reportedly leaning towards keeping the veteran point guard, but analysts believe that general manager Masai Ujiri is just waiting for the right offer.
The Knicks are also allegedly interested in trading for Denver Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried, but it is unclear at this point whether or not the Nuggets intend to move the hard-working power forward.
