A Washington man got a 16-year imprisonment sentence after he beat his own 6-week-old daughter and placed her inside their 10-degree freezer nine months ago, ABC News reported Friday.
According to the report, the 25-year-old man had a hard time calming the crying baby, so after several minutes of incessant shrieking and crying, the Washington father beat his infant daughter and put her inside the freezer.
Prosecutor Mark Lindquist said that the man identified as Tyler Deutsch pleaded guilty on Jan 31 to first-degree assault, and is now sentenced to 16 years of imprisonment.
Although the baby has fully recovered from the incident, the prosecutor claims that the crime was horrible and inexplicable.
Authorities said the infant's core temperature fell to 85 degrees in the freezer, after the Washington man put her there. Deutsch even went to his bedroom to take a nap while the baby was inside the freezing appliance.
Apart from the traumatic ice-cold condition of the freezer, the 6-week-old infant reportedly had a broken arm and leg and a head injury.
Deutsch pulled the baby out of the freezer when the mother, who left the baby in his care, returned home. The mother reportedly saw Deutsch and quickly alarmed 911 about the horrible incident.
