Elton John, a famous singer, and longtime partner David Furnish are planning to get married this coming May. They plan to tie the knot through a British civil ceremony. The couple has been together for 8 long years, and has celebrated the beginning of their relationship by organizing a big event at their house in London, during that time.
The announcement by the British government on Friday, legalizing same sex marriages in the United Kingdom, motivated the couple on deciding when to tie the knot. The new law from the British Parliament also provided a chance for a lot of gay couples to finally get married.
The announcement was disclosed to the Las Vegas Review Journal this Friday, by David Furnish during Elton John's birthday party, which was held at the Caesars Palace.
"We don't feel the need to take an extra step legally," David Furnish said. "But since we're committed for life, we feel it's really important to take that step, and take advantage of that amazing change in legislation. We all live by example."
Elton John, during his Jimmy Kimmel Live guest appearance last October, also mentioned his opinions about the upcoming legalization of the same sex marriage law. "If the laws are gonna help us again, as a famous gay couple we will do it. It's our duty to do it to make sure everyone knows that this is something that's a gift that we never dreamed we'd ever get," Elton John said on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Elton John and David Furnish sons, Zachary and Elijah, were also reported to attend the British civil marriage ceremony. The couple also plans the event to be more private and serene, compared to their exuberant civil partnership celebration.
In other note, Elton John's birthday was attended by a star-studded list of guests, with Nicolas Cage, David Spade, Quincy Jones, kelly Osbourne, Sharon Osbourne, and a lot more, who also sang Happy Birthday and danced throughout the evening.
