How I Met Your Mother season 9 finale finally aired last night amid all the high expectations that the show is going to end everything in a bang! However, it seems that while the curtains are being drawn in the last couple of minutes of the show, show fans were more disconcerted and not enlightened why the hit, long-running sitcom was named as such. Everyone was pretty much gasping for air when things took a different turn, so here we just want to hear from show fans what they pretty much think of the two-part season finale of HIMYM.

How I Met Your Mother, or to be exact "How I Met Your Stepmother" for many fans who still couldn't believe the shocking twist at the end of the series, has finally ended its nine-year run. And the finale has been receiving a mix of opinions from loyal fans, who followed Ted Mosby's narration for nine long years, hoping that at the end, things will work out for the best between Ted and the mother.
Carter Bays and Craig Thomas may have created a realistic ending when death becomes a critical element between Teds relationship with the mother, Tracy McConnell. Yes! We must admit the theories of fans were right all along, and we thought the foreshadowing in an earlier episode was just for additional drama.
The finale moments of How I Met Your Mother led us to another flash-forward, where we saw that apparently all the hype over Robin and Barney's wedding was just for nothing as the two have called it quits because of Robin's success as a television correspondent while Barney ends up as the same guy that he used to be (still is), hooking up with some girl he finds attractive. Then, we even found out that Barney has a child, who was born out of a one-night stand. The only thing that gave us the not-so-confusing vibe is the fact that now-successful judge Marshall and his wife Lily ended up having three kids (perhaps they could have been the perfect fit for the titular title, eh?).
Although we were happy seeing Ted and Tracy get married after a long engagement, we were sobbing the entire time we saw the mother falling sick and consequently dying. After the heart-breaking scene, Ted wraps up his story to his kids on how he met their mother. But just when we thought that that scene was the finale, we were a bit surprised when Ted's kids said that the story was also about how their dear father has remained in love with their Aunt Robin. The two even went on saying that Ted should ask their Aunt Robin on a date. "C'mon, dad," his daughter said, adding, "Mom's gone for six years now. It's time."
The finale episode of How I Met Your Mother Season 9 then ended with Ted driving to Robin's apartment and Robin opening the window to see Ted holding a blue horn - something that was actually referenced from the time they first dated... and poof! the series ended.
Because of the unpredictable twist to Ted and Robin's love story, many fans took it to Twitter to voice out their sentiments.
"they spent an entire season on a wedding in which the next episode ended in a divorce. And im supposed to feel satisfied? #HIMYMFinale," a Matthew Muccia wrote.
"I'm going to pretend that it ended when Ted said "that's how I met your mother" and everything past that point never existed #HIMYMFinale," a fan named DIEGO commented.
"#HIMYMFinale wasn't what I expected....but it worked beautifully. Thank you for 9 wonderful years," a Doug Ellison tweeted.
"I actually liked the ending of HIMYM. The show has always been brutally honest. Life is unpredictable, not black & white. #HIMYMFinale," an Amy Kooiman wrote.
