75,320 pounds of chicken nuggets that are sold all over the country from stores of Sam's Club were recalled following the announcement of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Reports from consumers that the chicken nuggets were found to have some small particles of plastic was the main reason for the recall.
The chicken nuggets were produced by Tyson, the largest meat producer in the country. The company declared that products that are subject for recall are the 5-lb bags sold mainly at Sam's stores. Reports of minor oral injury were given from a consumer of the product.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture investigation states that the small plastic that was found on the chicken nugget was from a scraper of the companies blending machine. Chicken nuggets sold in smaller packages were not included with the recall, and are noted to be safe of the particles.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture and the meat producer informed the public that the recall will include:
5-lb "Tyson Fully Cooked White Meat Chicken Nuggets - 16142-928" with a "Best if Used By" date of "Jan 26 2015" or Feb 16 2015." The manufacturer codes "0264SDL0315 through 19" and "0474SDL0311 through 14" also can be found on the bags.
20-lb. bulk packs of "Spare Time Fully Cooked Nugget-Shaped Chicken Breast Pattie Fritters w/Rib Meat - 16142-861" with identifying case codes of "0264SDL0315 through 19" and "0474SDL0311 through 14."
The chicken nugget incident will create further investigations and inquiries in order to limit another occurrence. The 75,320 pounds chicken nuggets are not fit for consumption and will also be destroyed.
Tyson Foods will inspect its production facilities in order to ensure its consumers that they will be producing food with quality standards. Their is also a routine check that is conducted to see that the recall is effective, and consumers are correctly notified about the incident. Certain steps are facilitated to make sure that these products will no longer be available for consumers.
