Deltopia an annual celebration held around the University of California, Santa Barbara, was attended by approximately 15,000 people in the streets of Isla Vista. The street party broke out to a violent disturbance happening in the area, injuring six police officers at the beach community this Saturday night.
News reports detailed the incident that just happened, the violent disturbance broke out after a police officer was hit in the head by a bag filled with alcoholic beverage glass bottles by an unknown individual. The blow caused a serious head injury to the police officer, urging the police to arrest the perpetrator.
The University of California, Santa Barbara police officers were in constant attack during their attempt to arrest the suspect. The crowd was throwing rocks, bottles, and bricks towards the police officers resulting to more injuries. Six police officers were reported to have been injured during the violent disturbances, additional information was provided that an officer was also hit on the face by a brick.
The Deltopia incident became an emergency situation and law enforcers from closer counties also responded and aid the Santa Barbara County police department to control the violence and make further arrests. The responding enforcers used chemical agents and less fatal foam weapon system in order to disperse the crowd, and make necessary arrests.
Deltopia street party violent disturbance caused dozens of individuals injured and treated to hospitals, while 18 people were arrested in connection to the incident. Reports of property damages were also made, street signage remove from the ground, small fires were also ignited, and police vehicles were affected before the police restored the order early on Sunday.
