Katherine Hiegl sues New York pharmacy Duane Reade for $6 million for deliberately posting a picture of the Hollywood actress on their Twitter account without permission. The famous "Grey's Anatomy" actress was also rumored to be broke and recently was asking donations on a crowd funding website for her new film 'Jenny's Wedding"
The 36 year old actress filed a lawsuit against Pharmacy Duane Reade, a popular drugstore in new York City, for posting a picture on Twitter without permission from the actress. The reported image also has a caption that says "Love a quick #DuaneReade run? Even @KatieHeigl can't resist shopping #NYC's favorite drugstore." The post was also spotted to another social media website, Facebook.
The controversial image was taken by a photographer while the actress was coming out of the New York pharmacy, based on the lawsuit filed at a federal court on April 9, 2014. The captured photo shows the actress carrying a shopping bag from Duane Reade and was posted for commercial advertisement by the pharmacy.
Katherine Hiegl was said on reports to had been infuriated about the use of the images on a disgraceful manner on social media sites just to promote the pharmacy. "We expect Duane Reade to pay for its willful misuse of Katherine Heigl's name and likeness," Heigl's lawyer Peter Haviland told Reuters.
The legal representative of the actress also added a statement that all money received from the lawsuit will be donated to charity that Kathrine Heigl is currently supporting and started in 2008.
Katherine Heigl was also rumored to be broke and penniless on a report made over the internet last February of this year. She was said to be raising $150,000 and asking donations via a crowd funding website, Indiegogo, in order to produce and finance her upcoming movie "Jenny's Wedding".
