NBA fans might see another giant on the hard court in the near future as Tacko 'Taco' Fall, the tallest high school basketball player in the nation is setting his sights on the big league.
Fall, who stands between 7-foot-4 and 7-foot-5, has been making headlines after a relatively impressive season with the Liberty Christian Prep in Florida wherein he averaged 11.1 points to go along with 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks this past season.
Fall's number looks unimpressive for his size, but those are pretty good numbers, considering the fact that the high school basketball player has just started playing ball, and is still learning the game.
In a previous interview with the Orlando Sentinel, Fall admitted that he still has a long way to go if he wants to earn the respect of his opponents.
"If I don't play like a big man, they may not be scared of me. They're going to say, 'This guy is soft.' So, I have to play like a big man, be aggressive on the post, ask for the ball and work on my hook shot," Fall said.
Fall arrived in Florida from Senegal with little to no knowledge about basketball, but former Orlando Magic center Pat Burke has been trying to develop Taco's skills. He was also responsible for helping Fall earn a spot with the Liberty Christian Prep basketball squad.
"He has a (variable) that people fear," Burke said of Fall's height. "He needs to remember that when he is posting up."
Fall still has one year left in high school, which means that he'll have one more year to hone his skills to attract the interest of college teams, and possibly NBA scouts.
And in the event he makes it to college and then gets drafted in the NBA, he will become the tallest player in league, surpassing 7-foot-3 center Hasheem Thabeet.
Aside from fulfilling his NBA dream, Fall is also reportedly aiming to become a biochemist, which means that he'll likely graduate from college before considering turning professional.
"I'm hoping to play professional basketball, but at the same time, I want to be a biochemist," Fall said.
