The wake of the success of Divergent-and a sequels granted soon after, Shailene Woodley has done a "Jeniffer Lawrence" by similarly bursting into the minds, and hearts of young adults, gaining the respect and devotion of fan girls and boys all over the internet and across the world seemingly overnight.
It will come as a surprise to some that Woodley 22, has been around for quite a while, slowly building her way up to stardom. She has had small roles on Without a Trace, The O.C, Evrerybody Loves Rayymond and Cold Case to name a few, though it was her stint in Television's in The Secret Life of the American Teenager was what made others; critics and viewers alike, take a second look.
The show revolved around her character, Amy Juergens who at 15 discovers she's pregnant. The whole series which ran from 2008 to 2013 revolves around her character, her family, friends and her community adapting to the changes the pregnancy brings. She had a Gracie Allan Award win for Outstanding Female Rising Star in a Drama Series.
The Dscendants, her movie debut where she costarred opposite George Clooney, was were she truly shined. Her role as Alexandra King, Clooney's character's troubled, conflicted daughter garnered her a Screen Actor's Guild Award and a Golden Globes nomination and won an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Actress. That one pool scene alone convinces us that she deserved all that and more.
Amongst other awards Woodley has won is the U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for Acting, from her movie film adaptation of Tim Tharp's novel, The Spectacular Now's run in the Sundance Festival .
She is set to appear in three more "big" movies this year; she will be the redhead Mary Jane, the new lady love to Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker in the Amazing Spider-man part 2. And she's also the lead, Hazel Grace Lancaster in John Greens novel "The Fault in Our Stars. "
And in tradition of being the newest, hottest "it-girl" some speculations and bets are being thrown about who the young 22 year old is involved with, and who she should date. As of late rumors have been going around that she and her co-star in Divergent, British Theo James are now dating.
Though Woodley denies it stating that, "I haven't had time to think about a relationship! I literally have not had a boyfriend in almost five years. I've never even hooked up with anybody I've worked with on a movie." she told Teen Vogue in April.
Maybe since then she's changed her mind?
