Valerie Harper's Health Is Uncertain Despite 'Positive Scans'; Actress Defies Death Though Not 'In Remission' Yet

Valerie Harper's health is making headlines lately after the 74-year-old Hollywood actress defied death through effective treatment, People reported Wednesday.

Valerie Harper's health has always been an issue after she revealed her inspiring battle against terminal brain cancer.

"My last scans have been positive, and my doctors are very happy," Harper told Closer Weekly. "[The oncologist] looked at the scans and said, 'Oh my God, Valerie, this is very encouraging.' "

It can be noted that Valerie Harper's health used to be very questionable in 2013, leading her doctors to predict that she only had a couple of months to live. But the 'Rhoda' star proved them all wrong when her condition took a positive turn.

Everyone was even surprised when she appeared on 'Dancing With the Stars' amid her troubling condition.

Nevertheless, Harper's doctor is still not saying that the celeb is now "in remission." "He likes to say, 'I give you a treatment, and it's either responsive or nonresponsive, and you are having a phenomenal response," she added.

Hence, this simply means that Valerie Harper's health is not at risk anymore; she is still by any means not cured from her illness.

"In response to a recent erroneous quote concerning my health, I am not 'absolutely cancer-free,' " Harper said in a statement. "I wish I were. Right now what I am is cautiously optimistic about my present condition and I have hope for the future."

According to People, Harper's ongoing medical treatment includes a "pulse dose" - a type of treatment that involves taking in a lot of pills at one time.

Although Harper admits that her health problem has been "difficult," she is now thankful that she only visits her doctor once every eight weeks.

"My cancer is incurable and terminal, but guess what? Not today!" Valeria Harper bravely told People. "There is all manner of suffering in the world, not all of it by any stretch related just to cancer or to illness, but all kinds of suffering."

Additionally, the actress left an advice to many people, who may be undergoing the same predicament she is currently at. "Don't go to the funeral before it is time. So my time is looking good today and that's how we are all supposed to live our lives - one day at a time."

Valerie Harper's health is not stopping her from engaging into several acting projects lately. She is currently starring in the Hallmark Channel new series "Signed, Sealed, Delivered," which is set to premiere Saturday at 8pm.
