The Undertaker is currently the target of a lucrative death hoax, following reports last week about Dwayne Johnson, The Rock rumored being dead. The fake news that are commonly used to lure people to clicking a link for a promotional page or for malware downloads has been trending on the internet lately.
Currently the unfortunate WWE Hall of Fame wrestler, Undertaker, is the victim of the fake news, and was even published on an article online by a satire website, Empire Sports. They news is currently shared in different social media sites, specifically Facebook. Another website, Huzlers also re-posted the article on their site.
The article stated that Mark Calaway, known as the Undertaker, passed away and was found dead by his wife, Michelle McCool, at their home at Houston, Texas. It also states that the wrestler suffered with a concussion during his last fight with Brock Lesnar, and that WWE CEO Vince McMahon suggested that the wrestler rest at his home. Although all this information was cleared on the Empire Sports website to be fake and for entertainment purposes only.
A report on CBS pointed out that this kind of death hoax can actually provide profits for the website who published it, and such acts are done continually for revenue purposes. The helpless victims of such death hoax are surely affected, while fans are confused and feels highly emotional for fake reports about their wrestling idols.
The death hoax of Undertaker, sparked anger and shock to furious fans of the wrestling superstar. The news which was a following of the fake claim of Dwayne Johnson's death, and the real passing away of the Ultimate Warrior, James Hellwig, just days before, became an instant hit online.
