Pakistan experienced another tragic event when a bus collided to a tractor trailer killing 42 people dead on Sunday morning. The event is considered one of the worst traffic accidents in the country in previous years.
Officials confirmed that the accident took happened in the Sukkur district of southern Sindh province, on a busy highway. The bus which collided with the trailer slamming head on with the tuck coming from the opposite direction, came from the Dera Ghazi Khan in the district of Punjab Province, based on statements made by the general of the Sindh Police, deputy inspector Sharjeel Kharal.
Police officials gave statements that the driver lost control of the bus which was carrying 75 people, which overloaded the vehicle. The accident caused 42 people dead including 13 children and 14 women. There are an estimated 30 people injured reported that had survived the crash. They blamed the bus driver for the accident, holding him responsible for the crash because of his reckless driving.
The bus driver was also one of the reported dead on the accident, while the driver of the trailer survived inflicting some injuries. Police officials will be investigating on the incident, and see if the drivers were guilty of criminal offenses. Some critically injured individuals were brought for emergency medical treatments in a hospital in Sukkur.
Rescue teams who responded on the scene of the accident took hours to aid the surviving victims and recover the dead bodies from the crash. An order for the transfer of the victim's bodies to their hometowns were given by Qaim Ali Shah, sindh's chief minister.
Pakistan has a bad record for being the world's worst record for fatal traffic accidents, while 12,000 to 15,000 people are killed per year due to road accidents caused by reckless drivers and poor roads.
