Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti vowed that his team will continue attacking in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final tie with Bayern Munich.
Real Madrid will travel to Germany armed with a 1-0 lead, but Ancelotti insisted that they will look to score and not defend in hopes of just protecting their precarious lead.
"I'm sure that I am going to pick an XI with a lot of desire and illusion. Everyone needs to be calm as we are going to prepare well. I have a lot of confidence in the players and they all need to have it," Ancelotti said. "The objective is to score and not defend. This is the line we're going to work along."
Ancelotti added that his is planning to field in a squad featuring his attacking trio of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, and first-leg scorer Karim Benzema.
Ronaldo was doubtful heading into the first leg last week, but eventually played for Real Madrid. Ancelotti said that the Portugal international has been getting into his best form especially after netting two goals in their 4-0 win over Osasuna on Sunday.
"Everything went well for Cristiano and for all of the players," Ancelotti said. "There were no problems and some have had a rest. The match was good, not high intensity, and Cristiano showed he is fine. He played with more security and confidence than on Wednesday."
Ancelotti also said that both Benzema and Bale are expected to play on Tuesday. Bale recently went down with flu, while Benzema was rested, but Ancelotti insisted that Real Madrid fans have nothing to worry about.
"Bale had the flu before the game on Wednesday and was very weak for two days, so we thought it best to leave him out," Ancelotti said. "He trained this morning, he is feeling better and, like Karim, he should be ready for Tuesday."
