Abduction hoax perpetrated by a 16 year old teen girl after break up with her boyfriend was recently reported by WOKV, which also led to a state wide search by police authorities in Middleburg, Florida. The teen girl, Ankita Lavender staged the abduction hoax to get sympathy from her ex-boyfriend, based on investigations made by police authorities.
The abduction incident was reported by WOKV when the 16 year old girl, Ankita Lavender called her father, telling her father that she was kidnapped. Authorities issued the Florida Amber Alert which provides law enforcement a way to immediately notify the public about critical events that involves child abduction and endangerment.
Ankita Lavender was found after 4 hours after the abduction notice was released. Reports stated that she was spotted on the side of a road asserting statements that she was thrown off a truck, but investigators who responded the scene discovered that the teen girl has no signs of any injuries.
The teen girl initially gave statements to the police that she was kidnapped, but eventually admitted to the authorities that the abduction was a hoax that she created in order to get the sympathy of her ex-boyfriend who broke up with her two days earlier.
Police authorities was not optimistic with the abduction hoax which was estimated to had cost a few thousand dollars, and led to 40 investigators responding on the first 2 hours of the reported kidnapping. According to WOKV, the Clay Count Sheriff's Office Colonel Craig Aldrich said on statements that the abduction hoax is a serious matter, adding "it cheapens or lessens the incident when it happens to real victim."
The 16 year old who staged the abduction hoax in order to get sympathy with her ex-boyfriend will not be excused on the matter, as deputies are considering to file charges against her.
