The Emmy Award winning The Voice US you can imagine is now a long running, very well-oiled machine. It was based off The Voice of Holland, the creation of Dutch television producer John de Mola, the reality television singing competition franchise that is up there competing with The X factor and the Idols franchise. NBC jumped on the wagon and immediately booked introduced four big name coaches starting with country artist Blake Shelton, Maroon 5's front man Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera and music producer/ singer Cee-Lo Green. The set up continued for nearly 3 seasons, till when in Season 4 however the latter two left to pursue other interests. Which led to the introduction of two more coaches; Shakira and Usher. The two did so well that they were commissioned to come back for Season 6. Usher's Michelle Chamuel was Season 4's runner-up.
After Cee-Lo announced his permanent leave from the show during last season and Christina Aguilera on a hiatus due to both her marriage and pregnancy, the season 7 line-up just opened up to new faces-getting fans excited with Grammy Awardee Happy singer Pharrell Williams and No Doubt's Hollaback girl Gwen Stefani.
According to Hollywoodlife.com "Gwen Stefani is not replacing Christina Aguilera — she’s just coaching, while Christina is on another season hiatus. CeeLo Green did leave the show all together, but Christina is just taking more time off, presumably for her maternity leave. The “Beautiful” singer and original Voice coach is confirmed to return to Season 8."
The two of them performed last week to give a glimpse or a taste of what Season 7 will be like.
