Shovel Girl who recently became an instant sensation after the video was released online, was also victimized by a death hoax saying that the 16-year-old girl, known for her real name as Miranda Lynn Fugate was killed after the fatal blow in the head. The death hoax was published in the internet via a fake news website Huzlers.com, that is notorious when it comes to posting unreal information.
The story of the shovel girl started with two female friends, Miranda Lynn Fugate and Emily Powers arguing with each other, until Emily smashed a shovel at Miranda's head. The incident was captured in video and was uploaded via youtube, although it became a viral sensation when the clip was added to an app and became a Vine video.
The viral clip was posted throughout the internet which can be found in different news sites like, Hollywoodl Life, The Hollywood Gossip, and other famous entertainment portals. Although the video may seem extremely violent, the Vine video still got a lot of views from people around the world.
Based on the popularity of the shovel girl, a fake article was then published by the satire website, Huzlers.com, which claims that the girl hit by the gardening tool was killed due to the blow on her head. The fake article from Huzlers.com reads, "Miranda Fugate Lockwood (mistaking her real name) died of serious head injuries after being hit with a shovel in the head by an old friend of hers named Emily Powers. The whole thing was caught in video and posted all over the internet and generated 500,000 video views in just 2 days..." The article also depicts the whole story of the video, and at the bottom of their page, the Huzlers.com gave a disclaimer that they don't post real news.
After the shovel girl death hoax was reported online by Huzlers.com, the website got thousands of likes and shares on their Facebook page. While other people went to Twitter and posted some messages about the shovel girl's death using the hashtag "RIPMiranda".
The shovel girl Miranda Lynee Fugate quickly posted a Vine video after the death hoax went viral saying that she's fine and that she's still alive. The person responsible for uploading the original shovel girl Vine video, Josh Officer, also posted on his twitter account that says "Miranda is not dead! Me and her just got off the phone follow us on twitter."
