Zac Efron's rehab days may finally be over, but the lessons he learned out of his scandalous stint are not at all forgotten. The 26-year-old actor recently opened up about his addiction and rehab stint during a chat with The Hollywood Reporter, and it seems that the former 'Disney' star does not regret any moment he spent in the health facility.
E! News reports that in Zac Efron's appearance on NBC's Today show Monday, the actor told Matt Lauer the relief he felt when his rehabilitation secret was officially out, headlining the entertainment news.
"Actually, it was a weight off my chest. It was great. It was a fantastic time," Zac Efron spoke of his rehab stint. "It was a rough year. It's kind of funny: 'Neighbors' is such a great icing on the cake for all of this."
Efron then dished that he we was thankful for the events that took place following his rehabilitation, adding, "I was able to kind of channel all of that and put it back into this movie. I feel great. I feel really blessed to be here working with this group of group of guys. I couldn't be better right now. I'm really excited."
Zac's co-star Dave Franco - James Franco's brother - revealed that he was actually thrilled to see Efron branching out and exploring his talent.
"I'm really excited for Zac because I know a lot of people have this preconception of who he is, and once you see this movie, I think his teenybopper image is going to be completely shattered." Franco explained. "All these new projects that wouldn't have come to him otherwise are just going to flood towards him."
Interestingly, it seems that Efron is now willing to put his teenybopper days behind him as well.
In an interview with THR, the former Disney star admitted that he has joined Alcoholics Anonymous recently, and that he has also been seeing a therapist.
"I just started going," the 26-year-old actor said. "And I think it's changed my life. I'm much more comfortable in my own skin. Things are so much easier now."
"Without those moments where you feel like your lowest, it's impossible to appreciate the high ones." Zac Efron added. "But I sit here in front of you today much happier and healthier than I've probably ever been."
