With Keanu's new set of action movies making rounds in the cinemas the past year; the successful Man of Tai Chi, that garnered awards in Beijing and was garnered praises most notably by recognized action film director John Woo. It has generally favorable reception as well as having a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 71%. And the flop 47 Ronin that failed to impress their intended target audience-the Japanese audiences were let down especially with all the hype it had going for it with it being based loosely on one of their famous tales and being backed with a well-known cast. They studios were unable to recover its $175-225 million budget.There's been a buzz going 'round of what his next move will be perhaps a possible reprisal of one of his roles.
A buzz that was sparked by an interview where he was asked if there was any other character he's played that he'd like to have another go at playing. He answered, "I would like to have played John Constantine again. I liked playing that character and there seemed to be a way to continue that. That's the only one that comes to mind." His myriad of devoted fans have reacted to the news and are begging for a sequel for the 2005 box office success, Constantine. In which the comic based hero John Constantine seeks salvation from eternal damnation in Hell for a suicide attempt in his youth by repaying his debt by keeping the balance between the fight of heaven and hell.
While another Constantine movie with Keanu at the helm will not be forthcoming, fans of the comic book can look forward to a live-action tv series. NBC has picked it up for their line up of new fall series they already have a trailer which can be seen in their website. It promises to be an exciting ride with experienced screenwriter David Goyer (Blade and Batman Begins) and director Neil Marshall of Game of Thrones behind the wheel. The show will have Matt Ryan as the correctly blonde Hellblazer, John Constantine. With other cast members including Harold Perrineau and Lucy Griffiths.
