Television fans hold on to your socks, your drawers or just anything really-the announcements regarding which shows have been renewed and which have been cancelled have been released! And the numbers are daunting with nearly twenty plus shows getting the axe. To top the list we have NBC cancelling the cult classic "Community" that failed to garner enough viewership for it to be picked up for its sixth season.
NBC's other shows that are being cancelled are "Dracula" with Jonathan Rhys Meyers as the lead, the post-apocalyptic two seasoner "Revolution", and the one's that didn't make it pass one season "Crisis,""Growing Up Fisher,""The Michael J. Fox Show," "Sean Saves The World" with Sean Hayes at the lead trying and failing at replicating his Will & Grace success, and "Welcome To The Family" and "Ironside," that were both cancelled after only three episodes had been aired.
For Fox network cancelled seven shows;"Dads,""Rake,"and "Almost Human" that barely made the first season though it's poor reception. "Surviving Jack"and "Enlisted"had early on garnered interest and favorable reviews with the latter's cancellation being blamed on the poor placement of the series in the Friday time slot, as well as some creative goofs up where in an effort to establish strong viewership from the start, the stronger episodes were aired first resulting in the episodes airing out of sequence. And lastly "Raising Hope" which the network cancelled during the course of their fourth season, due to it's dropping ratings.
Another shocker is The Xfactor which unfortunately didn't pull in enough viewers to match the success of it's British counterpart or even the success that American Idol once had.
Some newbies that barely made the cut-ended their run even before it had really began was
the CBS canceled shows "We Are Men" "Intelligence," "Hostages," "The Crazy Ones," which stars Robin Williams, and Sarah Michell Gellar, the not so successful TV adaptation of the film "Bad Teacher" and "Friends With Better Lives." The latter two only aired three episodes each.
ABC cancelled twelve shows; comedies, "Suburgatory" got cancelled after three seasons but there are talks of the series being shopped to other networks,"Trophy Wife," "Super Fun Night" with Rebel Wilson were both freshman comedies that received much hype at the beginning but loss viewer's interests towards the end of the season.
The other shows include "Lucky 7,""Mind Games,""Mixology,""Once Upon A Time In Wonderland," a supposed filler series for the successful Once Upon A Time series, "Killer Women,""Betrayal.""The Assets,""Back In The Game," "The Neighbors."
And the CW only having three- "The Carrie Diaries"which established a strong following early on yet lost it's momentum and viewership after only two seasons."Star-Crossed" and"The Tomorrow People" also opened to much hype but later began to fall in the ratings.
