Macaulay Culkin is dead at 33. The actor allegedly died due to unexplainable reasons over the weekend. However, it was found out later on that Culkin may have just been murdered by another celebrity death hoax that has been circulating the Web for a couple of days now.
According to Media Mass, Macaulay Culkin has died at the age of 33, but the site didn't state anything on how the "Richie Rich" actor passed away. Instead, it claimed that a Facebook page titled "R.I.P. Macaulay Culkin was made to spread the news about the actor's death.
"At about 11 a.m. ET on Monday (May 12, 2014), our beloved actor Macaulay Culkin passed away. Macaulay Culkin was born on August 26, 1980 in New York. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page," the description of the "R.I.P Macaulay Culkin" Facebook page reads.
Media Mass further reported that the page received "nearly one million of 'likes' and that hundreds of fans even left heart-warming comments, expressing their sympathy and condolences to the family and friends of the actor.
However, searching for the "R.I.P. Macaulay Culkin" Facebook page would lead one to nothing since the said page does not exist at all.
Checking the 'About' page of Media Mass would clarify that the site is mainly a satirical project intended to mock mass media through its false content. Hence, it was found out that the report was nothing but another celebrity death hoax.
Interestingly, just last April, Travelerstoday also featured a report from Media Mass claiming that Macaulay Culkin has died. The statements on the previous report are pretty similar to those found in the recent one except for the dates they claim to be the death date of the "Home Alone" star.
Although Macaulay Culkin is very alive at the moment, the actor has been plagued by reports claiming that he is at serious risk of lung cancer for his serious cigarette-smoking addiction.
In May 2013, Daily Mail reported that Culkin has been smoking at least 60 cigarettes a day after triumphantly making it through his battle against heroin addiction.
"He's coughing a lot, his teeth are yellowing, and friends and family are worried he's killing himself," a source said that time of the former child star's smoking addiction.
