Floyd Mayweather vs Marcos Maidana Next Fight: Maidana Calls Mayweather “A Baby Girl”, Tackles Gloves Issues

Marcos Maidana failed in his bid to hand Floyd Mayweather the first defeat of his boxing career, but the Argentine was not impressed with the performance of the reigning pound-for-pound king.

In a recent interview with Clarin shortly after arriving in Argentina, Maidana took a swipe at Mayweather, saying that the unbeaten champion is like a "baby girl."

Maidana, who absorbed a majority decision loss in their title unification bout on May 3, said that Mayweather is a fighter, who always tries to find excuses.

The 30-year-old Argentine was also puzzled why previous opponents of Mayweather were intimidated by the Grand Rapids native, insisting that Mayweather is not intimidating at all.

"Mayweather is a baby girl, all the time trying to find excuses," Maidana said. "Rivals who fight him are intimidated with the show he puts on but it is not what it seems. Every time I hit him he did not know to do."

Maidana also slammed Mayweather for complaining about the gloves that he wanted to use on fight night, which almost led to the cancellation of the bout.

Maidana was forced to use gloves that were picked by Mayweather's camp, and the Buenos Aires, Argentina native confidently said that he could have knocked Mayweather out if he was allowed to use the gloves he was supposed to use.

"If I would have had my gloves I would have knocked him out," Maidana said. "They took away my advantage."

Maidana, who lost his World Boxing Association welterweight title, added in a separate interview that he might have lost against Mayweather on the judges' cards, but he managed to earn respect and draw priceless affection from people.

Maidana was a heavy underdog heading into fight night, but surprised the skeptics with the way he pressured Mayweather right from the opening round, leading to an exciting fight, which was considered by most analysts as the toughest fight in Mayweather's career.

"I lost the fight, but won the affection of the people, which is priceless," Maidana said. "Floyd is a good fighter, did his job and knew how to handle the fight better. But nobody has hit him as much as I hit him. Many fighters who have fought with him showed too much respect and they wouldn't dare to attack him. I came forward the entire time. They need to give me the rematch because I was the true winner of the fight."
