James Maslow on DWTS Finale Elimination: 'We're Bummed!'

James Maslow did a pretty great job in the DWTS season 18 finale part 1 last night. Sadly, his efforts didn't pay off even after sealing that steamy tango with partner Peta Murgatroyd with some lip-locking action. In the end, the 'Big Time Rush' actor was voted off from the competition, leaving only three stars for the finale part 2, namely: Meryl Davis and partner Maks Chmerkovskiy, Candace Cameron Bure and Mark Ballas, and Amy Purdy and Derek Hough.

During last night's elimination, James Maslow and 'Full House' alum Candace Cameron Bure were declared the bottom two - like what they have been for most of the season. After it was announced that Maslow was eliminated, the audience erupted with boos and disappointment. Even the singer-actor himself was noticeably disappointed with the result.

"I've really had an amazing experience on the show," James Maslow said after the announcement. "I've enjoyed it more than I ever thought possible. I've made some amazing friends and I'm just grateful for the opportunity. It's been lots of fun."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it seems that the kiss Maslow and Murgatroyd shared was a kiss of death. The two absolutely surprised everyone when they raised the temperature on the dance floor by sharing a kiss to end their first dance. Nevertheless, last night's elimination proved that no steamy trick could actually save you once the judges' scores and the audience scores are in.

"We're bummed," Maslow told THR. "We've worked our asses off, and we don't regret anything. There's nothing we would have done differently." The actor also opened up about the kiss, he and Peta did at the end of their first performance. "We're sick of these fake kisses. It was a kiss. There's nothing wrong with that. It was a tango peck."

James Maslow and dancing partner Peta Murgatroyd got a combined score of 58/60 for their two performances: a tango and a freestyle dance. The dancing partners, who were also rumored to be romantically dating for the past weeks, were sent home although Candace Cameron Bure and Mark Ballas had the lowest scores of the night, THR noted.

Interestingly, James Maslow is no more than eager to move on with his life. "As sad and partially frustrated as I am to not be able to compete tomorrow, because we both really expected and wanted to be there, there's also a sense of relief and excitement that this is the first time in six years that I'm going to be free to go and do what I want to do, not on a contract." The Nick star also dished that the end of his days on DWTS Season 18 will now allow him to "get to starts my life as an individual."

James Maslow and all the previously eliminated cast members of Dancing With The Stars season 18 will join the final three couples in the second part of this season's finale or championship round. DWTS Season 18 finale part 2 will air this Tuesday from 9-11p.m. on ABC.
