A 19-year-old Texas young man is facing criminal charges because of his sale of brownies that have been covered to hide their true nature - marijuana and hash oil. The guy will face a punishment that may threaten him to stay in jail for the rest of his life. The minimal years that he could spend in prison are 5 years.
According to Round Rock police, officers have discovered around 1.5 pounds of brownies, marijuana, and around $1,675 in cash aat Jacob Lavoro's apartment in March. The police has done that as a response to external complaints that have called for an action regarding a noticed marijuana use.
Lavoro has been immediately arrested. Thanks to a $30,000 security bond, he is now out of jaill
His father, Joe Lavoro, has expressed shock at the thought that his son might face so many years behind the bars.
"It's outrageous, it's crazy! I don't understand it," the father told Austin TV station KEYE.
"Five years to life?" he kept on. "I'm sorry, I'm a law-abiding citizen. I'm a conservative. I love my country. I'm a Vietnam veteran, but ... this is wrong!"
However, the prosecutor has announced that a plea deal is a possibility and there would be other contributing factors that may affect the outcome of the case.
"First-time offenders are treated differently. As far as I know, he is a first offender," Williamson County prosecutor Travis McDonald has told The Associated Press on Tuesday.
McDonald has announced that the possession of at least 4 grams of harsch oild is sufficient for the person to be charged with a first-degree felony. Jacob Lavoro possessed 145 grams of hash oil, along with the marijuana brownies.
The case demonstrates the roughness of the US law and its strict forms of punishment. Whoever violates the law, gets proper and fair punishment.
