A Sin City sequel poster featuring the French actress Eva Green was considered too risque and was subsequently banned by the MPAA for mature content. While the poster is still available online, it will not be not see the light of day in theatres and cinemas as Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is set for release on the 22nd of August, this year.

The teaser poster, which has since been disapproved for release by the MPAA and several censorship boards, features the actress Eva Green, who plays Ava Lord in "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For", wearing a thin gown while clutching a pistol on her right hand with her finger on the trigger. Apparently, MPAA found the teaser poster too much of a tease that they disapproved its distribution.

The MPAA formally explained their reason for banning the poster: "for nudity - curve of under breast and dark nipple/areola circle visible through sheer gown." The MPAA, however, has not commented on Eva Green's pose with what seems to be a loaded gun.

Controversy is nothing new for the Sin City series. Its prequel involved excessive bloodshed, mature language, and violence. With Frank Miller at the helm of the movie's film noir depiction, modesty is the last thing one may expect from the sequel. The second film "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" features Eva Green as Ava Lord, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Mickey Rourke, and Bruce Willis.

Both Frank Miller, the series' creator, and Robert Rodriguez of the Machete fame directed the crime-action-thriller. While the prequel was shot solely in 2D, "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" was shot in 2D and 3D formats. Rodriguez, who directed the film's 3D output, tells Entertainment Weekly, "there's something about the way Sin City works that I thought would lend itself very well to 3D because the images are so stripped down and abstract ... you almost can see it better in 3D. It'll be really cool."

"Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" will be released on the 22nd of August in the United States and on 29 August of this year, in the UK.
