Vampire Diaries Season 6 is premiering this fall, and show fans are surely anticipating the return of the hit CW series after the bizarre and nothing short of bitter finale of TVD Season 5. Though the all-new season is still a far stretch from today, many speculations, rumors and spoilers on the things that are to happen on Vampire Diaries Season 6 have recently surfaced online. And based on what we've read so far, the forthcoming season will pretty much introduce familiar villains, feature new flames and unravel game-changing twists in the process.
Vampire Diaries Season 5 finale has largely propelled the storyline of the show to a different direction, and by this, we are referring to the drastic changes in some of our protagonists, who might be turning the tables into becoming the antagonistic villains this season. According to WetPaint, given the heartbreaking events following the collapse of the Other Side, it is not impossible that our dear Elena will turn evil, and cause major trouble amongst our remaining characters.
It can be noted that Elena showed off her evil side when Jeremy died in Season 4, so now that Damon is dead, with no means of returning to life back after the great collapse, Elena is speculated to lose her sanity and good side and flaunt her "big bad" antics yet again.
Interestingly, it's not only Elena who is suffering from irreparable wounds brought about by grief over the death of a loved one. Jeremy is also believed to be losing it after Bonnie's tragic disappearance in line with the Other Side's destruction. Hence, the Gilbert siblings are rumored to be the new villains in the upcoming Vampire Diaries Season 6. Show executive producer Caroline Dries even hinted that the Gilbert siblings are going to deal with "devastating ripples and effects."
Now aside from Elena and Jeremy, Enzo is also a major prospect as the new villain in the upcoming season. Enzo is of course still grieving over the loss of the love of his life, Maggie James. Hence, WetPaint reported that he could be one, who is going to play a sneaky role in the new arc.
Speaking of new arc, Dries also teased that the anti-magic boundary will have a significant role in the all new season of Vampire Diaries. Because of the magical barrier surrounding Mystic Falls, our characters will be forced to ponder on their definition of "home." While some are embarking on a "personal journey," others will take this time to re-discover the things they took for granted in the past.
Now in terms of having new flames, major spoilers on the romantic exploits of our characters have also surfaced recently, and one of which claims that Jeremy will find Liv's presence a delight in Bonnie's absence. In season 5, Liv flirted with Jeremy in front of Bonnie so it's not a new thing if she does it again.
A much bigger fuzz is following Stefan and Caroline, who are said to be the next power couple in the show. Rumors that Stefan and Caroline will be together in Season 6 have been raised by fans since season 5, but the actors themselves have remained tight-lipped over the issue. Good thing, Dries has also spoken of the possible flame between Stefan and Caroline, saying, "Her feelings for Stefan are friend feelings. I personally feel like she's not quite sure what she's feeling. It's all types of confusing. Lots of grey area: Stefan is her friend. Elena loved Stefan. Elena's her best friend. Kind of a no-fly zone, which is why I think that if she has had any more-than-friend feelings she's pushed them away or convinced herself otherwise."
Vampire Diaries is returning on The CW this fall for its sixth season.
