Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank Promotions are reportedly on the verge of ending their longstanding cold war, which prevented big-money fights from happening before.

And now that they are on the verge of co-promoting fights once again, Golden Boy Promotions' Oscar De La Hoya believes that one of his fighters, Marcos Maidana, could face Manny Pacquiao in the near future.

In an interview with BoxingScene, De La Hoya, who was recently inducted in to the Boxing Hall of Fame, said that ending their feud would lead to big fights such as Pacquiao vs Maidana, or a showdown between GBP's Lucas Matthysse and Top Rank's Brandon Rios.

"There's a lot of possibilities," De La Hoya said. "You can do (Marcos) Maidana versus (Manny) Pacquiao. You can do (Lucas) Matthysse and Brandon Rios. There's a lot of possibilities."

Some critics believe that De La Hoya is considering working together with Arum after former Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer left the company, which led to Mayweather Promotions announcing that they will not work with GBP again in the future.

But while some analysts believe that De La Hoya is getting desperate, the boxing legend shrugged off all criticism, saying that he is just focused on making big fights for the fans.

"I will end the Cold War for the fans," De La Hoya said. "I don't care what it takes. (This) is for the boxing fans. You hear all these messages from people. They want to see the big fights happen. Well, I'm going to do it for the fans."

De La Hoya also revealed that he has already talked to Arum last month, and is planning to sit down with his former promoter again in the near future.

Arum, for his part, previously indicated that he is willing to work with De La Hoya again, insisting that he has maintained a good relationship with his former fighter.

"I'd be happy to talk to Oscar about any subject in boxing he wishes to talk to me about," Arum said. "All this baloney about a cold war has never really applied to Oscar and myself. We can talk about any subject in boxing rationally. We might disagree on a particular point, but we can talk. I hope we'll get together and have some significant meetings in the near future."
