Amanda Bynes 2014 update: former Nickelodeon star now free from the charges pressed against her after a New York City judge has dismissed all the complaints Monday, June 30, according to Reuters.
Great news for Amanda Bynes and her fans! An NYC judge has now dismissed all the charges filed against the "Amanda Show" star after she managed to keep her nose clean and maintain a clean act for nearly 6 months. Such a milestone for the actress, who is in-and-out of rehab facilities for nearly two years now is indeed worth some praise and compensation.
The charges pressed against Bynes that were dismissed include: marijuana possession, reckless endangerment and evidence tampering. All of which were products of her controversial bong-tossing gesture in May 2013.
It can be noted that back then, cops responded to Amanda's 36th floor apartment in a New York City building when nearby residents reported that someone was smoking pot in one of the units.
An employee of the building even singled out that it was Bynes, who had been acting erratically that day.
Now, to hide evidence that she was using marijuana that day, Bynes reportedly threw the bong she used outside of her window. Hence, she was then arrested.
However, it seems that Bynes lawyer, Gerald Shargel, is someone who believes in the actress' capacity to maintain a clean act. Thus, he and the prosecution agreed that the charges pressed against Bynes could be adjourned or possibly dismissed if she successfully does what her lawyer proposed.
"We demonstrated today that she was in compliance and as we expected the case was dismissed and sealed," Shargel said after the ruling of the judge on the charges pressed against Bynes, who for some reason was not able to attend the hearing at Manhattan Criminal Court.
In July of the previous year, the "Sydney White" star made headlines when she was put in an involuntary psychiatric ward in Los Angeles after she set her neighbor's driveway aflame. In December that year, she was released from the facility and has been living with her parents since.
She's also notorious for striking arguments against Hollywood celebs on Twitter.
Amanda Bynes 2014 may be far from the lovely 13-year-old, who captured a lot of young hearts when she starred in her own show "The Amanda Show" on Nickelodeon. But her popularity amongst her fans is still unwavering. Thus, she still gets project offers every now and then. However, it's still not clear whether she has something in store for her fans this 2014.
