Brett Keisel, the 35 year old veteran defensive end of American football returns to NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers for a two year contract.
American athlete, Brett Keisel who is famously known as "Da Beard" on the field is re-signed as the defensive end of Pittsburgh Steelers to boost a reconfigured line that has struggled to produce the force needed in the preseason's first two weeks.
Early on Brett Keisel's career, he was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the seventh round in NFL's 2002 draft. In March 2006, Brett Keisel signed a four-year contract with the Steelers reportedly worth $14 million. He won the first team position at right defensive end on that season.
On August 2009, Pittsburgh Steelers once again signed Brett Kiesel to a new five-year contract worth $18.885 million plus a $5 million signing bonus. Brett Keisel had his first career interception and first touchdown in 2010. He was then added to the AFC Pro Bowl roster for the first time in his career.
Following the expiration of his 2006 contract, Brett Keisel entered free agency. And last August 19, 2014, he re-signed with the Steelers. During the offseason, the Steelers decided not to re-sign Brett Keisel after he finished with four sacks in 12 games last year.
Brett Keisel was effective last season. The team leaves him plenty of room to get back to the spot where he helped the Steelers grabbed a pair of Super Bowl victories. Later in his career, Brett Keisel then became a fan favorite, with his thick beard grown each year then shaving it off for charity during the end of season.
Brett Keisel started growing his infamous "Da Beard" on summertime while on a hunting trip with his father. Brett Keisel's facial hair growth earned fame during the 2010 NFL end season. He refers his beard as "beautiful thing" and "the greatest beard of all time" and has encouraged his Steelers teammates. "Da Beard" was removed during a charitable ceremony called "Shear the Beard" in downtown Pittsburgh in February 2011. The event rose over $40,000 for the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. It then became an annual charity event for Brett Keisel.
Today, Brett Keisel still parlayed the beard and with his current concerns on the Steelers performance on the playoffs, "Da Beard" is definitely making a grand come back in NFL history.
