The former head of Death Row Records, Marion "Suge" Knight was reportedly shot at a pre-MTV Video Music Awards party in Los Angeles. He was also allegedly knocked out, however the allegations were untrue.

Suge Knight together with two other attendees whose identities were withheld was shot at 10AK, a West Hollywood nightclub on the Sunset Strip in Southern California. The location was known as one of Los Angeles' hot spot. The authorities were still in search of a suspect and waned to release additional information regarding the ongoing investigation.

The 49-year old founder of the Death Row Records, Suge Knight was attending the pre-party as one of Chris Brown's guests.

Suge Knight was shot in the arm and in the stomach and was brought to the Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles where he is currently in their intensive care.

According to sources, four shots had been heard before Suge Knight emerged and walk out of the nightclub on his own.

In 1996, Suge Knight was reportedly driving the car when rapper Tupac Shakur was shot to death in Las Vegas. Different theories had then surrounded the murder of the rapper and one pointed to Suge Knight as the one who orchestrated the killing of Tupac Shakur alongside fellow rapper Biggie Smalls, who was killed a year after.

Suge Knight had multiple run-ins with the law including a variety of unrelated violent arrests, aggravated assault charges, drug-related arrests, including a multi-year in prison for violating parole. He was also reportedly been seriously injured several times. Suge Knight was also shot in a Miami party hosted by Kanye West in 2005. And he had been knocked out in a Hollywood nightclub fight and was hospitalized in 2008.

Suge Knight latest law run-in was the drug and traffic violations in Las Vegas in 2012 and is currently under a three year unsupervised probation.

Far from the troubles, assaults and arrest rapper Suge Knight was known for, his talents and influences on the West Coast rap scene were greatly appreciated and respected.
