Novak Djokovic of Serbia will look to advance to the semifinals of the 2014 US Open tennis when he faces Andy Murray of Great Britain on Wednesday night at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York.

Djokovic, who advanced to the quarterfinals with a straight-set win against Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany on Monday, will be a heavy favorite to win as he is tipped to reach his fifth straight finals appearance at Flushing Meadows.

However, Murray will look to spoil Djokovic's bid as he is also aching to win his second US Open title, and he wants to move closer to reaching that goal by defeating the top-seeded Serb, whom he defeated in the 2012 final.

The eight-seeded Briton, who also defeated Djokovic in the final of 2013 Wimbledon, is confident about his chances on Wednesday night's match based on how he pushed the world No. 1 to the limit in their previous matches.

"I mean, they obviously will help. It's more -- I wouldn't say in terms of getting confidence more. It's just having that experience of playing those matches," Djokovic said on Monday. "They were both very long, tough matches, as well. So I know that I can last those matches against him. I mean, I have said it a number of times: anything can happen in a couple of days. just do everything properly and hope on Wednesday I play a good match."

On the women's draw, Serena Williams of USA will continue her chase for a third-straight US Open crown when she faces Flavia Pennetta of Italy in the quarterfinals.

Williams booked a spot in the final eight with a clinical 6-3, 6-3 win against Kaia Kanepi of Estonia, while Flavia Pennetta earned the right to face the top-seeded American with a 7-5, 6-2 win against Casey Dellacqua of Australia on Monday.

Pennetta will be playing in her fifth US Open quarterfinal, and Williams, a five-time US Open champion, knows that she will have a tough assignment on Wednesday.

"I don't think I have easy matches against her," Williams said of facing Pennetta. "I think she plays really well. I think the older she gets the better she plays, to be honest. It is not an easy matchup for me. We played in Cincinnati. I won. But she played well."

The Williams-Pennetta match is scheduled to start at 7:00 PM EST, which will be followed by the Djokovic-Murray showdown. Complete schedule and results can be seen here, while the updated brackets are available here.
