Oscar Pistorius update on trial verdict reveals that the man, who was accused of killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, has been found guilty to second-degree murder, but was also cleared of the serious pre-meditated murder charge by a South Africa judge, Western Daily Press reports.

In the latest Oscar Pistorius update, judge Thokozile Masipa has announced that athlete is guilty of second-degree murder or homicide after fatally shooting Steenkamp through a bathroom door on Feb. 14, 2013.

Judge Masipa maintained that the Oscar Pistorius trial verdict was decided based on the Paralympian's behavior during the incident, wherein he had been "negligent" and acted "hastily" for fear of any intruder on the other side of the bathroom door.

Though Pistorius was found guilty of homicide, he was cleared by the court of the more serious pre-meditated murder charge since the state failed to provide enough evidence for the conviction of such.

"The state clearly has not proved beyond a reasonable doubt that the accused is guilty of premeditated murder. There are just not enough facts to support such a finding."

According to the Oscar Pistorius update on the trial verdict, the 27-year-old could still be acquitted if judge Masipa believes that he just made a tragic error in the incident that killed his model girlfriend.

Nevertheless, Pistorius has also been found guilty of one count of discharging a fire arm in public because he fired a gun in a restaurant.

The Telegraph reports that the Paralympian could face up to 15 years in prison, and that his sentencing is due in October.

Oscar Psitorius attended the court hearing on Thursday after wading through a large number of media scrum, packed with camera crews and photographers.

At the start of the trial verdict hearing, Pistorius remarkably hugged his brother Carl, who was apparently seated in a wheelchair because the injuries he obtained out of a recent car accident.

The parents of Pistorius' late girlfriend were also present while his family was also there to show their support.

Oscar Psitorius' father, Henke, even sat behind him the entire time.

The Oscar Pistorius trial update comes almost three hours after judge Masipa started reading her verdict.
