The $225 million Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather Jr. bout might never happen after all, as the two camps continue to put the mega-fight in jeopardy following another 'word war' on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Ever since Mayweather cruised to his 47th victory against Marcos Maidana last September 14, there's a heightened speculation that the Grand Rapids native is now targeting a showdown with the Filipino slugger next year.

In the post-fight press conference, Mayweather said that he might consider taking the challenge of fighting Pacquiao if the eight-division world champ would manage to beat his upcoming foe Chris Algieri and 'present' itself well in the market.

I got to go back and talk to my team, I'm not ducking or dodging no opponent," Mayweather stressed. "If a Pacquiao fight presents itself, let's make it happen."

However, Pacquiao questioned the credibility of Mayweather's intent to fight him following Money May's revelation that some of the scenes in his Showtime pre-fight reality show were staged - including the one in which he was surrounded with guys taking marijuana.

"@FloydMayweather's testimony to the commission on All Access' authenticity tells me everything I need to know about his desire to fight me," Pacquiao posted on Twitter on Thursday.

As expected, Mayweather reacted right away to Pacman's comments and he did it by posting college pictures of the Filipino lying on the canvass during his fight with Juan Manuel Marquez in December of 2013.

"Miss Pac Man is broke and desperate for a pay day. Your Pay-Per-View numbers are a joke," posted Mayweather, who has two years left in his contract with Showtime Boxing.

Business Impact

Many experts value a potential a potential showdown between Pacquiao and Mayweather at around $225 million in conservative estimates. Five years ago at the height of both boxers' career, their showdown would have been valued at $350 million and expected to break all kinds of record, may it be gates receipts or Pay-per-View buys.

Despite strong push by Showtime and HBO Boxing, the chance Mayweather-Pacquiao fight would happen is narrowed to the tiniest percentage because of the constant rift between both camps, which never fail to disappoint boxing fans around the world.
