On Friday night, actor Johnny Depp was at the center of social media tempest after his controversial speech at the Hollywood Film Awards in Los Angeles. Depp was a show-stealer after he slurred his words in an odd curse-filled speech. Allegedly drunk during the show, Johnny Depp has an estimated net worth of $350 million.
Johnny Depp, who has a $350 million net worth as listed by The Richest, opened the awards season with his controversial speech that grabbed social media interest. While presenting an award at the Hollywood Film Awards, the famed "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor delivered an awkward incoherent speech.
"That's the weirdest microphone I've ever seen. I'm not really good at this kind of thing," 51-year-old Depp said. "I mean, it's not of those nights."
Johnny Depp's bizarre speech occurred when the show was about to end. Us Weekly said he was introducing talent manager Shep Gordon and presenting Mike Myers with the Hollywood Documentary Award for his movie, "Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon."
"For decades, Shep Gordon has been one of the most beloved and respected talent managers in the music industry," Depp said while slurring. The actor was also distinctly unsteady on his feet. "He is also currently the star of the documentary Supermensch - because he is a mensch - and I have been very, very, er ... lucky to have him in my life. He's someone I consider a great friend, somebody ... uh, yeah, uh ... incredibly, uh ... loyal, loyal friend. Um. And so ... you have to watch the film. Yeah, there you go."
Johnny Depp, who was widely recognized by his role in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise that made him earn his hefty net worth, was cut off by clips during his speech. The Guardian said Gordon was seen laughing just the like the rest of the puzzled crowd.
Meanwhile, Johnny Depp is an American actor who definitely has a commercially successful career. According to Celebrity Net Worth, he has an annual salary that can reach $100 million and a $400 million fortune. Throughout the '80s, he pursue his acting career and landed several minor roles. In 2003, Depp landed the role of Captain Jack Sparrow in the first of four "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies.
Due to Johnny Depp's substantial net worth, he was elected into the Guinness Book of World Records as the highest paid actor in 2012.
While presenting the award on Friday night, Academy Award-nominee Johnny Depp delivered an unclear, rambling speech, which had fans compared him to one of his movie characters, Captain John Sparrow. According to New York Daily News, Depp's controversial speech lighted up the social media.
On the other hand, Depp will be featured in "Mortdecai," a movie adaptation of Kyril Bonfiglioli's cult trilogy that will be released in the US on Jan. 23. Though The Richest lists Johnny Depp's net worth as $350 million, Celebrity Net Worth said its $400 million.
