Golden Globe Nominations 2015 - The Hollywood awards season is definitely in the air! After the Screen Actors (SAG) Awards announcement on Wednesday morning, it was followed by the revelations of the 72^nd Annual Golden Globe Awards nominations on Thursday.

The 2015 Golden Globe nominations were announced by actors Kate Beckinsale, Jeremy Piven, Paula Patton and Peter Krause on Dec. 11 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. According to CBS News, the stars read out the nominees in 25 categories.

This 2015, HBO outshined with 15 Golden Globe nominations. While "Birdman" leads with seven, "Boyhood" and "Imitation Game" with five nominations each. In a USA Today report, "Selma," which was snubbed by the SAG Awards, received a nod in the best motion picture, drama category. And "Selma" actor David Oyelowo, who was also overlooked by the SAG, also joined the best actor category.

Meanwhile in television, Julianna Marguilies of "The Good Wife," Viola Davis of "How to Get Away With Murder," Claire Danes of "Homeland," Ruth Wilson of "The Affair" and Robin Wright of "House of Cards" were also nominated.

This year's Golden Globe Nominations also features newcomers including Gina Rodriguez of "Jane the Virgin," Showtime's sexy drama "The Affair" and "Transparent." While returning favorites, "The Good Wife," "Downtown Abbey," "Game of Thrones" and "House of Cards" are featured in the best drama TV series category.

In the best motion picture drama category, Time enumerated "Boyhood," "Foxcatcher," "The Imitation Game," "Selma" and "The Theory of Everything" as the nominees. While "Birdman," "The Grand Budapest Hotel," "Into the Woods," "Pride" and "St. Vincent" were nominated for best motion picture in comedy or musical.

For best drama actors, Steve Carell, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jake Gyllenhaal, David Oyelowo and Eddie Redmayne earned the 2015 Golden Globe nominations. While Jennifer Aniston, Julianne Morre, Rosamund Pike, Reese Witherspoon and Felicity Jones were vying for the best drama actress trophy.

After the SAG and Golden Globe nominations, the Oscar nominations will be announced next. The Daily Mail said the nominees for the upcoming Academy Awards will be revealed on Jan. 15 with winners announced on Feb. 22.

At the upcoming awards, actor George Clooney will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award.

The Golden Globe nominations 2015 winners will be announced on Jan. 11 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles in a gala co-hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. The ceremony will be aired on NBC.
