Tiffany & Co. recently paid tribute to same-sex couples through its newest engagement advertisement campaign. The company made history as it marked its first time for featuring a real-life gay-couple. The latest Tiffany & Co. ad was also praised by controversial singer Miley Cyrus on her Instagram post.
Huge jewelry mogul, Tiffany & Co., took an unconventional route in featuring a same-sex couple in real-life on its new advertisement. CNN shared the new "Will You?" campaign features seven scenes of couples that was taken by fashion photographer Peter Lindbergh.
Since 1837, the legendary jeweler has defined style and celebrated the world's greatest love stories through its remarkable and stunning masterpieces. According to The Washington Post, the 178-year-old jewelry maker joins the increasing list of brands using gay-couples in advertisements.
"Nowadays, the road to marriage is no longer linear, and true love can happen more than once with love stories coming in a variety of forms," Tiffany & Co. North America VP Linda Buckley told ELLE.com. "The Tiffany engagement ring is the first sentence of the story that a couple will write together as they create a life that is deeply intimate and exceptional, which is the message we hope to convey through this campaign."
"All of these scenes have a unifying theme: They capture a moment in time when couples experience an intimate connection, an acknowledgment that yes, this person is the one, now and forever," the brand stated.
In another photo showing a couple on their wedding day with their child, the company acknowledges the increasing rates of mothers giving birth outside of marriage.
In the Tiffany & Co. campaign, the featured same-sex couple were New Yorkers that are dating in real-life, Fashionista confirmed. While The Daily Mail revealed that other professional models such as Andreea Diaconu, Joséphine Le Tutour, Luca Gadjus and Cora Emmanuel also appeared in the campaign.
Nowadays, Tiffany & Co.'s advertisement is part of a trend among advertisers to feature same-sex couples, which include prominent brands like Target, Banana Republic, Gap, Chevrolet and J. Crew, Time cited. While Fashion Times said that same time last year, Barnes New York made news for introducing transgender men and women on its spring 2014 ad.
