Delaware Man Hid Cocaine - A 39-year-old man was arrested on Monday afternoon in Delaware after police found several grams of cocaine in his prosthetic leg during a routine traffic stop.
According to the Dover Police Department, Marlow Holmes was driving near McKee Road when he reached a traffic stop and parked near the police. Police K-9 dogs are reported to have alerted officers to suspect that narcotics is present in the car.
A search of the vehicle led the officers to uncover about 28 grams of cocaine inside Holmes' prosthetic leg. The suspect was then arrested. Police say the drug was removed from his prothetic leg to be used as evidence in court. Meanwhile, the prosthetic leg has been returned to the suspect.
Holmes has been charged with possession with the intent to deliver cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. The suspect is reportedly being held in the Vaughn Correctional Center near Smyrna. A bail for him was set at $81,000.
It is unclear where Holmes was heading to and whom he was set to deliver the drugs to. It is also unclear what happened to the other person in the vehicle with Holmes.
The arrest of Holmes has been widely covered by the press and sparked lively discussions on social media. Some comments have noted that Holmes must have chosen to keep the cocaine in his leg because he feared that it would be easily discovered if it were placed somewhere else - except that he didn't bank on meeting police K-9s. Also, other comments have highlighted the fact that the cops would have had hell to pay if it turned out that there were no drugs in Holmes leg after he had to remove it for a search.
