Val Kilmer has reportedly undergone a throat surgery because of an alleged tumor. Earlier this week, there have been several reports about the 55-year-old former "Batman" actor being rushed to the hospital. However, he denied the reports and released a statement on his Facebook page.
On Friday, Jan. 30, TMZ reported the paramedics rushed to the actor's Malibu residence after receiving a 911 dispatch call on Monday. According to the report, Val Kilmer suffered a throat bleeding and was brought to UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica, California via ALS for surgery.
However on Saturday, Us Weekly revealed Val Kilmer denied the throat tumor reports on his Facebook page and clarified a possible health scare.
"Thank you for all your sweet support," the actor wrote. "But I have not had a tumor, or a tumor operations, or any operation. I had a complication where the best way to receive care was to stay under the watchful eye of the UCLA ICU."
"Friends have assisted who know my spiritual convictions and have been most sensitive and kind for the extra effort in making sure there's minimum gossip and silly talk," Kilmer added. "I am praying for a speedy return to the boards as they say. God bless you all and please don't worry. Love and deep affection, Val."
Since Val Kilmer has trimmed down, the actor's health has since been scrutinized. And spotting him wearing scarfs around his throat just fueled added speculations about a possible tumor. In December, The Daily Mail shared the "Top Gun" actor was seen with a grey sweater tied around his neck while watching an LA Clippers game. Then during a Lakers game on Jan. 16, he was photographed with a scarf around his neck.
Meanwhile, Kilmer's rep has also released a statement about the actor's health.
"Film actor Val Kilmer is currently undergoing tests at a Los Angeles Hospital for a possible tumor," the actor's publicist said. "The 55-year-old Kilmer is being cared for by his two children Mercedes, 23 and son Jack who is 19, both LA residents. According to a family friend and spokesperson, the doctors are encouraged by his progress and are hopeful that Mr. Kilmer will make a full recovery."
In recent years, E! News reported Val Kilmer's health had raised concerns about it among fans after looking heavier than usual, then losing a great deal of weight last September. Though he has not publicly spoken about his health, his social media pages have been continuously updated.
Following the throat tumor rumors, Val Kilmer clarified the issue through a social media message. And the news seemed to be just a fabricated information since Kilmer did not recover from any surgery.
