NBA Rumors: Suns Won’t Rule Out Trading Goran Dragic; Lakers, Rockets Among Potential Suitors

The Phoenix Suns would reportedly try to swing a deal involving point guard Goran Dragic and shooting guard Gerald Green before the trade deadline, according to Sporting News NBA insider Sean Deveney.
Currently holding the eighth and final playoff spot in a very brutal Western Conference, the Suns are still expected to burn the hotlines approaching February 19 trade deadline.
In his recent article, Deveney listed Dragic among players who could possibly be moved in the coming days not only because of his ability to opt out from the final year of his contract and become an unrestricted free-agent this summer but also the inconvenience created by the logjam at the point guard spot.
"The Suns have loaded up on guards, and it seems that no matter how coach Jeff Hornacek handles the situation, someone is not going to be pleased.
While there has been nothing serious in terms of deals that have been close, as the Suns' hold on a playoff spot in the West slips away, there is a sense that they'll need to pull the trigger on something that can bring in the kind of perimeter-shooting big man they lost when Channing Frye left in free agency. Gerald Green (a free agent) is a trade possibility, but Dragic (also a free agent) would net a better return. The Lakers have wanted Dragic all year, but don't have much to offer."
Like Deveney observed, the Los Angeles Lakers have been the most aggressive suitors for the Slovenian blur but clearly don't have enough assets to hammer a deal. On the other hand, the Houston Rockets have all the resources, the draft picks and young talents, to entice the Suns' fron-office.
It's going to be really tough for the Suns to replace Dragic, who is averaging 16.5 points and 4 assists per game this season. Then again, it's also won't be a shocker if the Suns trade him for the right package, knowing the point guard could bolt out in July without getting something in return.
