Sinkhole Snowplow - As the Northeast continues to face heavy snowfall, a large sinkhole swallowed a snow plow truck in New Jersey while the driver was going about his job.
According to reports, the incident happened on Tuesday around 7:30 a.m. in a street in Breakley Park section of Lopatcong Township, Warren County, New Jersey.
Mayor Tom McKay says the sinkhole is located at the very quiet and romantic Wordsworth Lane. He revealed that the driver, who was cleaning the streets, managed to escape uninjured.
However, the unidentified driver was reportedly 'shaken' by the sinkhole snow plow accident and he was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and was released shortly after.
The sinkhole snow plow incident led authorities to close down the Wordsworth Lane, while officials tried to remove the truck from the 15 feet deep sinkhole.
According to reports from the Township of Lopatcong Facebook page, the plow truck was removed from the sinkhole around 2 p.m and crews continued working to fix the sinkhole and the water and sewer lines.
"Many thanks to everyone that was on hand with our sinkhole emergency today. Our DPW supervisor is a little bruised but alive and well and we are very thankful for that fact," a Facebook statement read.
Residents along the Wordsworth Lane who were affected by the sinkhole would be given water from a local fire company as authorities carry on with the rebuilding, which is likely to take several days to finish.
"If you have any issues due to the sinkhole, we remind you to call our non-emergency number at 908-859-2211 or call 911 is it is an emergency. Also, the fire department will be handing out free water for those affected at Stryker's Rd firehouse from 8am-8pm on Wednesday and Thursday,"
