Kim Jong Un has reportedly ordered his military forces to prepare for war against the United States and its allies, the state media reported Saturday. According to Yahoo! News, the notorious North Korea leader's comments came after the US-South Korea military drills conducted on Friday.
Kim Jong Un's "prepare for war" remarks was made at the opening for a new hall at the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum in Pyongyang, FOX News cited. It was also reported that Kim allegedly urged his army to train to "tear to pieces the Star Stripes."
The large-scale joint military exercises, which made Kim Jong Un's "prepare for war" threats, kicked off Friday. It was a prelude to an eight-week drill known as operation Foal Eagle that involve air, ground and naval field training, AFP reported. Almost 200,000 Korean and 3,700 American troops will take part in the drills that started on Monday. Additionally, a largely computer-simulated joint drill called Key Resolve, is also under way.
Though South Korea and the United States insisted that the exercises are defense-based in nature, North Korea condemned the drills as insulting rehearsals for invasion, Christian Post learned.
"The prevailing situation where a great war for national reunification is at hand requires all the KPA (Korean People's Army) units to become (elite) Guard Units fully prepared for war politically and ideologically, in military technique and materially," Kim said, as quoted by the state Korean Central News Agency, which was reported by The Daily Mail.
Meanwhile, North Korea has fired two short-range missiles off its east coast just two days after Kim Jong Un reportedly told his army to prepare for war with the US and its allies. As reported by Reuters, North Korea fired the missiles about 305 miles into the sea. While South Korea Ministry spokesperson Kim Min Seok said the missiles were fired without designating any no-sail zones.
"If North Korea takes provocative actions, our military will react firmly and strongly so North Korea will regret it in its bones," Kim Min Seok stated during a news briefing, FOX News quoted.
The North Korean missile firing on Monday was also criticized by the Japanese saying the "ballistic missile launches" posed a serious threat to "aviation and navigation safety."
As Kim Jong Un urged his army to prepare for war against the US, will it be a threat for a looming World War 3?
