Navy Seal Training Accident - A U.S. Navy SEAL has died after a parachute  accident caused by a malfunction during a training exercise in Perris, California, near Riverside, on Wednesday.

According to reports from Naval Special Warfare Group 1, the sailor, whose identity is being withheld until his next of kin is informed of the accident, was part of a West Coast-based Navy SEAL team.

The sailor died from injuries sustained following a jump which was part of a training exercise. Preliminary reports reveal that his parachute failed to open during the jump.

Reports indicate that the Navy SEAL fell down in a rural area near Richard Street and state Route 74, close to Perris. Reports indicate that this is where a majority of Southern California's skydiving accidents occur.

The Riverside County Fire Department responded to the scene of the Navy SEAL training accident around 9:08 a.m. However, spokeswoman Jody Hagemann would not make any comments and referred all questions to the military.

Chief Brandon Raile, a Navy spokesman, confirmed the sailor's death, he added that no one else was injured during the Navy training accident.

Television footage of the scene showed an American flag draped over the remains of the victim.

The accident is the second fatal SEAL skydiving accident this year. In January Special Operator 1st Class (SEAL) Blake Marston died after falling during an exercise at a central Florida training facility. Marston accident was reportedly also caused by a malfunction with his parachute.
