Ingrid Nilsen recently made headlines after she opened up about her sexuality in an emotional YouTube video. In the 20-minute clip, the 26-year-old beauty vlogger revealed that she is gay.

After spending years of covering up her sexuality, Ingrid Nilsen finally explained that she has been gay her entire life. According to Daily Mail, the popular YouTube star and "Project Runway" star spent years hiding her sexuality and documenting her relationships with men because she grew up in a place where "homosexuality was not universally accepted."

"I am doing this. I guess I am just going to get right to it," she said at the beginning of her confessional video. "There is something that I want you to know - and that something is I'm gay."

As Ingrid Nilsen finally confessed her sexual identity, here are 5 interesting things to know about the beauty guru.

1. Ingrid Nilsen is half Thai and half Norwegian who lives in California. According to Polyvore, she is a YouTube beauty expert who uses "MissGlamorazzi" as her username. She also does a series of Glam It Yourself videos.

2. Nilsen's dad died when she was 17, which was around the time when her mom was battling breast cancer. To this day, her mom is a breast cancer survivor.

3. For over a year, Nilsen dated YouTube musician Luke Conrad. However, they reportedly broke up two years ago. She also dated Christopher Erwin, an executive at You Tube media agency Big Frame.

4. Known for her fashion and make-up expertise, Ingrid Nilsen won a Streamy Award for Best Beauty Channel in 2014, Famous Birthdays revealed.

5. Aside from being a vlogger, Nilsen became a judge on the Lifetime reality series, "Project Runway Thread," last year.

Meanwhile, Ingrid Nilsen's confession about her sexuality to her 3.3 million followers managed to attract over 900,000 gits in just a span of 8 hours, Time noted. 

"I have had this wall up for so much of my life, but it wasn't like this brick or stone wall," she said. "I've described it to my friends as this glass wall, where you could see me but you were never getting all of me, because there was always that barrier there."

Despite the need to finally come out, the social media maven said it was time for a new and more honest beginning.

"I want to live my life unapologetically because I am proud of who I am and I am not going to apologize for who I am anymore," she concluded. "This is the life that I have always lived in my head and now it's real."
